SEQUIM — Youth was served Sunday when 20-year-old Mukilteo golfer Reese Jorgensen capped a wire-to-wire effort this weekend, winning the 54-hole 2023 Clallam County Amateur Championship by 13 strokes at 6 under par on Sunday.
Jorgensen led after each round of the tournament — shooting a 1-under round of 70 Friday at Sunland Golf & Country Club, following up with a up-and-down round of 2-under-par 70 at Peninsula Golf Club that featured six birdies and four bogeys — and capped by a no-doubt-about-it 3-under 69 in the final round Sunday at The Cedars at Dungeness.
Playing out of Everett Golf & Country Club, Jorgensen shot a 4-under 33 on the front nine Sunday and finished the tournament out in style with a birdie on the par-4 18th.
The Cedars at Dungeness Men’s Club members Josh Milam (7-over 223) and Jeff Jones (12-over 228) were second and third, respectively.
Ron Grant, another Cedars member, tied for fifth at 16 over with Tim Trosin of Port Ludlow Golf Club.
In the Overall Net Division, Tim Brown of Tumwater Valley Golf Course was the winner at 3-under 213.
Linda Hash of The Cedars at Dungeness tied Jorgensen, a 2 handicap, for third place in the Net Division with Trosin and Richard Clendening of The Cedars at Dungeness part of a three-way tie for fourth.
