GOLF: Drive for the Cure tourney at Sunland

SEQUIM — Sunland Golf and Country Club will host its annual Drive for the Cure golf tournament and luncheon on Saturday, Sept, 16.

This event is a fundraiser for the Olympic Medical Center Foundation and funds are earmarked for mammograms for area women who lack insurance or the means to pay for the procedure.

An anonymous Sunland donor will provide a $1 match for $3 raised up to last year’s fundraising total, and a $1 for every $1 raised over that amount.

Fundraising avenues include: mulligans and magic putts, a putting contest, raffles for gift baskets and donations with a suggested minimum of $25.

The tournament format is a modified scramble with a 9 a.m. shotgun start for 18 holes of play and an 11 a.m. start time for those playing nine holes. Men and women may sign up as a team of four or sign up individually and the pro shop will make up teams. Mixed teams of men and women are welcome.

Costs are $42 for 18 holes and $32 for nine holes with lunch included. Cart rental is $16 per seat for 18 holes and $10 per seat for nine holes. Non-golfers are encouraged to attend the luncheon which starts at 1 p.m. and costs $15.

The deadline to register is noon Monday, Sept. 11.
