RECENTLY, I HAD a reader write in asking if I knew of a good club fitter here on the North Olympic Peninsula.
The reader was looking for somebody that measures launch angle, clubhead speed and more variables in order to tweak weights, shafts and other parameters to optimize one’s game.
A golf-club whisperer, if you will.
Unfortunately, I don’t know if there are candidates around that fit the bill.
But some demonstration days are on tap where those variables can be measured and translated into clubs tailored for your own individual swing.
And I do mean tailored.
Attending a demo day and adding a club fashioned expressly for how you hit the ball is just like visiting a tailor for a individually designed suit.
Both are going to fit you better, and you will look better with the customized fit than by buying off the rack.

Cedars demos
Cedars at Dungeness in Sequim is planning a series of demo days in April, beginning with TaylorMade/Adams Golf from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 8.
That is the first of four consecutive Wednesday visits that run from noon to 4 p.m.
Callaway Golf visits April 15, Ping is on hand April 22 and Nike Golf visits April 29.
Gut Buster time
SkyRidge has a change in start time for its toughest tournament of the year, “The Gut Buster,” set for Saturday.
The individual medal play-event will offer tee times starting at 9:30 a.m.
Men will play the course from the tips, the Black tees at 6,529 yards, while senior men will tee off from the Green tees, a 5,960 yard distance.
Ladies will play from the 5,737-yard Silver tees.
Entry fee is $65 per person and includes a shot at KP’s on three holes, long putt on No. 18, 18 hole of golf, range balls, lunch and a honey pot.
Golfers also can play a free practice round Friday before the tournament.
Carts are $15 per seat.

Twilight members
Cedars at Dungeness started a Twilight membership program last year that allows for unlimited golf seven days per week with a variety of seasons to choose from.
One of those seasonal options, an April through October membership during the primary golf season, is coming up quickly.
A single can pay $850, and a couple $1,250 plus tax for the membership.
It allows players to tee off during the week from 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. (or later), and before 8 a.m. on Saturdays and anytime on Sunday.
Besides the chance for added value on golf rounds, Twilight members can receive a $3 discount on power carts, 15 percent off merchandise (except clubs and sale items), 15 percent off food at Stymie’s Bar & Grill and the Double Eagle Restaurant at the course, and two large buckets of range balls a day.
Kiwanis Best Ball
Port Townsend Golf Club will host the annual Kiwanis two-person best ball tournament Saturday, March 28.
The event raises funds for children with special needs.
Cost for this event is $50 per player for members and $60 per player for nonmembers.
The action will begin with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
Weekly skins games are set for Thursdays and Saturdays.

Another blow
Tiger Woods is out after a 16-year run as the face of EA Sports PGA Tour video game series, replaced by world No. 1 Rory McIlroy for the next installment of the long-running series.
It’s been a gradual move away from Woods for the game maker.
In 2011, Woods was replaced by a flag from The Masters.
Woods then shared the cover with Rickie Fowler, and last year Tiger was pictured on the cover along with Arnold Palmer.
The game is set for a June release and will be the first major golf game for the next-generation Xbox One and Playstation 4 consoles.
It’s a gorgeous looking game, but few details were released.
My question is whether Chambers Bay, site of June’s U.S. Open, is included.
