GOLF: Cedars at Dungeness hosts 50th annual pro-am, pro-pro

SEQUIM — About 140 golfers participated in this year’s Cedars at Dungeness Pro-Am/Pro-Pro Golf Tournament for the event’s 50th anniversary last weekend.

It was a smaller field this year as the event was held with social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

David Phay from Whidbey Island Golf Course was the top pro golfer, while the team pro-am event was won by Chad Wagner from Cedars at Dungeness with amateurs Jason Doig, Eric Lane, David Lane and Troy Atwell.

The pro-pro event was a two-day, two-person best ball tournament. Mark Knowles and Conner Robbins from North Shore Golf Course in Tacoma won the event, beating Wagner and his partner Austin Hurt from Wing Point Golf Course on Bainbridge Island in a sudden-death playoff.

Cedars at Dungeness thanks major sponsor 7 Cedars Casino, hole-in-one sponsor Wilder Auto Center and advertising sponsor the Peninsula Daily News.

Tee and green sponsors included Antiqua Sportswear, Bleimeisters’ Wood Works, D.A. Davidson, Harborfood Service, Irwin Dental Center, Jamestown Excavating, Johnston Land Surveying, Olympic Game Farm, Olympic Synthetics, Pacific Golf & Turf (EZ-GO Carts), Quality Inn and Suites, Sequim Bay Lodge and Sequim Red Lion Inn and Suites.
