CEDARS AT DUNGENESS in Sequim, a stalwart supporter of the Seattle Seahawks all season long, has a football-themed tournament on tap.
Since Week 1, way back in September, Cedars ran a weekly 12th Fan contest through its Facebook page, painted a sweet, endzone-esque “12” on a course fairway and trotted out a Seahawks-emblazoned golf cart for special occasions.
Hawks fever? Yes, Cedars has a severe case, and the only cure is a repeat Super Bowl championship.
With Seattle, most noticeably Kam Chancellor and Russell Wilson, taking care of business in the team’s playoff opener last Saturday, one more home victory remains before a second consecutive trip to the biggest of big games Sunday, Feb. 1.
And if the Hawks handle their business and punch out the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Seattle fans will need something to do to while away the hours on Super Bowl Sunday, as kickoff isn’t until 3:30 p.m.
Enter Cedars and its Super Bowl Bash tournament, a four-person scramble with handicap and Callaway divisions.
A shotgun start will kick off the event at 9:30 a.m.
The tourney is open to those who have a USGA handicap and those without.
There are variable fees, with the cart-using public paying $65, and members or employees $45; the walking public offering up $55, and walking members or employees paying $35.
Everybody will receive lunch, refreshments, range balls, a chance at KPs and two squares on a score-predicting betting board.
A $40 per team honeypot also will be available.
A chance to have some fun, get some exercise and make fun of any New England Patriots (likely) or Indianapolis Colts (maybe) fans who show up representing their teams before the game also is included at no charge.

Polar Bear tourney
Cedars also will host the 22nd annual Polar Bear Championship from Friday, Jan. 23, through Sunday, Jan. 25.
The tournament begins with a practice round of golf that Friday, followed by play on Saturday and Sunday.
Players with a USGA handicap index of 27.0 or lower can enter the 36-hole individual stroke play event in any of three amateur divisions, while PGA professionals or apprentices can join the professional division.
Cost is $140 per person and includes the Friday practice round, range balls Saturday and Sunday, tee prize and green fees, plus lunch on Sunday.
A total of $5,000 in prizes will be available based on a field of 100 players.
Entry deadline is Monday, Jan. 19.
SunLand singles
SunLand Golf & Country Club general manager Tyler Sweet passed along word on two recent holes-in-one by club members.
Dave Anderson recorded his second-ever ace using a 7-hybrid on the 122-yard par-3 17th hole.
Russ McClelland knocked in his second career single on the 161-yard par-3 fifth hole.
As for the club McClelland used, he described it to Sweet as “an unknown iron.”
A mysterious but highly effective iron, it appears.
Congratulations to both golfers.
Beast Mode
SunLand Golf & Country Club in Sequim is open to public play on weekends, and now through the end of January, the course is offering a Beast Mode package each Saturday and Sunday.
Golfers can play the 18-hole course with a cart for $24 (plus tax) — the uniform number of arguably the most beloved Seahawk, “Beast Mode” himself, Marshawn Lynch.
Although, if Russell Wilson keeps this winning pace up for the length of his career, I think we would have a new leader in the clubhouse.
But Lynch is the engine that drives this team, so the course also is presenting a Marshawn Lynch jersey drawing contest.
Golfers who purchase a Beast Mode package receive five entries in the drawing.
Another entry is earned for every $12 spent in the club’s pro shop and for each “Like” of SunLand’s Facebook page.
The drawing is set for 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, a mere 24 hours and change before kickoff of Super Bowl XLIX.
A double dip
If our Seattle squad can make it back to Arizona, the site of this year’s Super Bowl, fans who make the trek down to catch the game have a chance at double dip.
The PGA’s Phoenix Open, the rowdiest tour stop of the season, is held the same weekend as the game at the TPC Scottsdale.
But be quick if you want to hit up both events. Tiger Woods RSVP’d for the event last week, the first time he will play the tournament in 14 years.
With Tiger back, expect gasoline to be poured on an already boisterous fire.
