Coston wins Open

SEQUIM — Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club’s Jeff Coston recently claimed his 11th 7 Cedars Senior Washington Open title with a come-from-behind win at The Cedars at Dungeness.

Coston, a former PGA Tour player who runs the Jeff Coston Golf Academy out of the Blaine-area course, rolled in a 15-foot birdie putt on the 54th hole to force a playoff against Tom Brandes, amateur from Glendale Country Club at 5 under par.

Coston followed up by sinking a nine-foot putt on the second playoff hole to secure the victory.

A total of 191 players completed the three-round, 54-hole event.

Amateur Steve Gish of The Cedars at Dungeness posted the lowest finish for any area competitor: a tie for 83rd after shooting rounds of 76, 83 and 83 for a 26-over-par 242.
