GOLF BRIEFS: Olympic Christian Schools benefit tourney set July 15

SEQUIM — Registration is underway for the Dan Hendrickson Memorial Golf Tournament, a fundraiser for Olympic Christian School.

The scramble-format tournament is open to all skill levels and will be held at The Cedars at Dungeness on July 15, with registration opening at 7 a.m. and an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

The $100 per-player fee includes green fees, carts, range balls and lunch.

County amateur set

SEQUIM — Open to all amateur golfers, the 54-hole 2023 Clallam County Amateur Championship will be contested at Peninsula Golf Club, Sunland Golf & Country Club and The Cedars at Dungeness July 7-9.

Entry fees are $180 for the public, $150 for members/employees and includes three rounds of golf, range balls, prizes, raffles, KP, a Friday evening cocktail party and lunch on the final day. Cart fees are not included.

Players also will have shots at a $5,000 hole-in-one prize.

Registration is open at https://7cedars.com/ccac.html through Wednesday.

Players will compete at Peninsula Golf Club or Sunland with 10 a.m. tee times July 7 and 9 a.m. tee times on July 8.

The final round is a 9 a.m. shotgun start at The Cedars at Dungeness.

State Am results

WALLA WALLA — Sequim High School alumni Adam Columbia and Sean O’Mera competed at the 102 Washington State Men’s Amateur at Wine Valley Golf & Country Club.

O’Mera, the Sequim High School boys golf coach, missed the cut after shooting rounds of 80 Tuesday and 81 Wednesday.

Columbia finished his three rounds at 13 over par after shooting rounds of 75, 73 and 81.

Washington State University golfer Christian Yanagi won the championship at 14 under.

Cedars Women

SEQUIM — The Cedars at Dungeness Women’s Golf Association met this week to play “It’s a Hard Life,” with scores from the hardest nine holes minus half a player’s handicap.

With a number of players in Leavenworth for another tournament, three of 12 players made birdies.

Yoon Park birdied No. 9 and No. 12 on her way to a round of 38 (31 putts) and a First Division win.

Marine Hirschfeld made birdies on No. 8 and No. 17 while shooting a 40.5 (30 putts) to finish behind Park.

Jane Peoples also birdied the No. 8 hole.

Lori Oakes (41) and Bev Handshumaker (42) led the Second Division players. Barb Burrows had low putts (34) with Handshumaker next with 36.
