Couples golf event at Disco Bay

PORT TOWNSEND – Discovery Bay Golf Course near Port Townsend will host a two-person “No Scotch” couples event at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25.

Entry fees are $10 per person plus green fees

The Discovery Bay Women’s Club is hosting the event as a fundraiser for its annual scholarship fund.

After golf, a no-host social hour and potluck will be held at the clubhouse.

Fall Shotgun set

PORT ANGELES — Peninsula Golf Club will host its 40th annual Fall Shotgun Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 1-2.

The format is two-person best ball using half of a team’s combined handicap. The maximum handicap is 36 for men and women and a differential of up to eight strokes will be allowed. There will be men’s and women’s divisions.

The Spring Shotgun boasted a full field of 108 players, so Peninsula head pro Chad Wagner is hoping to fill up the fall with another full field.

A total prize pool of $13,000 worth of merchandise will be available for a full field.

All players will get a shot at a KP on the full swing golf simulator.

A barbecue lunch will be served both days of play.

Cost is $260 per team.

The fun begins with a team auction (Calcutta) and hors d’oeuvres at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31.

Tee times are 8:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m., so if you tee off in the morning on day one, you’ll play in the afternoon on day two.

SkyRidge Scramble

SEQUIM — SkyRidge Golf Course in Sequim will hold a three-person scramble tournament Saturday, Sept. 8.

Two drives and two second shots must be used per player.

The event will have 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.

Cost is $90 per team ($30 per player), which includes lunch after play, team KPs and a team long putt.

A honey pot competition is an extra $20 per player.

Kidd holes out

Sequim’s Gary Kidd collected his first hole-in-one Thursday, Aug. 16 at Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course.

Kidd aced the 146-yard par-3 fourth hole using his 8-iron and a Wilson Staff ball.

There were two witnesses.
