SEQUIM — The Sequim girls tennis team is back in a three-way tie for second place in the Olympic League with two weeks remaining in the regular season.
The Wolves lost their spot in the second-place logjam that includes Kingston and Bremerton when they lost to league-leading North Kitsap (9-0) last week.
But Kingston beat Bremerton on Thursday and then Sequim beat Kingston 4-3 on Friday at home to move the Wolves back to 6-2 along with the Buccaneers and Knights.
Sequim swept the three singles matches against Kingston on Friday.
Stephanie LaCour took the No. 1 showdown with Emily Shaleen 6-3, 6-3.
The other two matches went three sets: Isabelle Hugonoit defeated McKenzie Atkins 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 in No. 2 singles, and Tia Gauthum rebounded from a second-set loss in the No. 3 match to beat Sam Young 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2.
Kingston won three doubles matches. Sequim’s only victory came in the No. 4 match, in which Lindsey Carlson and Melissa Copeland bounced back to win 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.
The Wolves travel to Belfair today to face winless North Mason (0-9).

BREMERTON — The Roughriders only managed to win two doubles matches against Knights.
Port Angeles Audrey Little and Aeverie Politika defeated Jennifer Price and Cinthia Reyes in Friday’s No. 2 doubles match 6-1, 6-0.
Coach Stephanie Gochnour picked Politika and Little as the Riders’ players of the match.
“Girls played smart, used volleys to their advantage and worked hard at each point for the win,” Gochnour said.
In No. 4 doubles, Port Angeles’ Lum Fu and Summer Olson held off Simone Cantel and Avalon Chin 6-4, 6-3.
The Riders’ other two doubles tandems dropped tightly contested three-set matches.
Maddy Woods and Maria Soule lost the No. doubles match to Marianne Adiceam and Krista Matro 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 6-3.
In No. 3 doubles, Emily Traughber and Karina Paup-Byrnes fell to Ceinna King and Franica Brown 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Port Angeles (3-7) hosts Olympic League-leading North Kitsap (9-0) today.
