BREMERTON — Sequim solved Olympic’s offsides trap as five Wolves found the back of the net in a 6-0 Olympic League girls soccer win over Olympic.
“We had a lot of offsides calls in the first portion of the game, we talked about how to beat that and what we needed to do and the girls listened and executed,” coach Haley Sue Freeman said.
“We had two scores called back from offsides calls which makes the girls think about positioning, the timing of their runs, when to send the pass.”
Sequim’s Olive Bridge, Bella Rich, Sasha Yada, Raimey Brewer (two goals) and freshman Adalie Eastburn all tallied goals for the Wolves.
“Adalie is a player we brought up from JV, so that was a cool moment,” Freeman said.
“We were making smart decisions with the ball and good plays on the ball. “Some midfielders who are more defensive minded like Aliyah Siemion and Ivy Barrett and they both played great. Our whole back line played great, seems like they are really starting to gel together.”
The Wolves (2-2-0) host Port Angeles at 6:30 p.m. today in the first leg of the Rainshadow Rumble rivalry.

POULSBO — The Riders weren’t consistent enough to beat a top-tier team like the North Kitsap Vikings.
“We are just stuck in repeating a pattern,” coach Daniel Horton said. “We prepare, we look like we are ready and we haven’t been able to put it together for a complete game. We have a poor first half, good second, or a good start and then a lull. There’s something blocking us from playing a full game and against better teams that won’t get it done.”
Horton said Port Angeles played well to open the game.
“First five minutes looked really good, we were possessing the ball, sending good passes and we got several shots on goal and maybe because we didn’t get that instant gratification we dipped,” Horton said.
“They scored off a corner kick on their first opportunity at 5:30, they didn’t have a shot on goal. We left it at the wrong time. We didn’t body-on-body and they scored,” Horton said.
“We played strong for a little bit but we didn’t get a quick reward and tie it up and North Kitsap scored off another corner in the 12th minute.
“The frustrating part is NK is really good at set pieces, they have scored off a corner in every game. They are aggressive, they play a good ball and they attack. If they challenge everything in the air we can’t get caught standing flat-footed,” Horton said.
Horton said Pyper Alton played well in the midfield.
“If we can get more people to match the intensity she showed, we’ll be in a good spot,” Horton said. “She played great crosses, was taking people 1-on-1. Ava-Anne Sheahan also played a great game at center back, according to Horton.
Port Angeles (2-2-0, 2-3-0) visits Sequim tonight.
