GIRLS SOCCER: Port Angeles soccer to play in Selah Tuesday in State Tourney opener

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles girls soccer team Sunday learned that they will play their first-round 2A State Playoff match against Selah Tuesday.

The girls qualified for their first berth at state since 1986 by beating Sequim in a shootout in the 2A West Central District playoffs last week. The Roughriders (11-8) went on to win another match Saturday against Orting to take fifth at the West Central District. It was the third time the Riders had played Sequim this year. The Riders won two out of three and two of the matches went to shootouts, which were split by the two squads.

The game tonight will begin at 5 p.m. at Karl Graf Stadium in Selah. Selah is the No. 1 seed out of District 5/6.

Clallam Bay volleyball third at Tri District

A Monday story on the 1B Tri District Volleyball Tournament omitted that Clallam Bay will be the No. 3 seed to state from the tournament.Clallam Bay lost to Mount Vernon Christian and did not play a final match against Evergreen Lutheran Saturday.

Callam Bay will begin play at the 1B State Tournament at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the SunDome in Yakima against Evergreen Lutheran.
