SILVERDALE — The Sequim girls basketball team rode a huge fourth quarter to defeat 3A Central Kitsap 63-51 on the road Thursday.
The Wolves, who remain unbeaten for the season, entered the fourth in a tight game, up just 42-39, but erupted for a 21-12 quarter to win by double digits.
“They were a really good team, but our girls worked hard to get us back in the game,” said coach Joclin Julmist. “Jolene [Vaara] kept us in the game during the first half and Hannah [Bates] finished the game with an amazing second half.”
Julmist said that Jelissa Julmist was limited in her playing time due to foul trouble, but she still ended up with 14 points.
Vaara led the team with 18 points, seven steals and three blocked shots. Bates hit four 3-pointers and finished with 17 points and seven steals.
Sequim (3-0, 7-0) returns to league play Tuesday at Kingston (0-4, 0-7).

Crescent 50, Quilcene 13
QUILCENE — The Crescent girls basketball team got back on the winning track with a 50-13 victory over Quilcene on Thursday.
“Crescent got off to a very slow start versus a very, very young Quilcene team,” said coach Mike Hazelett. “After weeks of games being canceled, the girls got in to a groove in the second quarter. Defense is starting to come back around for the Loggers.
“Freshmen Naomii Sprague had a strong game off the bench with great defense and 12 points Kaylen Mason has been moved back to her old position from center to forward. [She] had a great game defensively and added 10 points,” Hazelett said.
Laniyah Moore also added eight points.
Crescent (1-0, 3-3) next plays at Summit Classical Christian School on Tuesday. Quilcene (1-4) hosts Crosspoint at 5 p.m. Thursday.
