SEQUIM — Four Sequim players scored in double figures as the Wolves overwhelmed Forks 81-25 in a nonleague girls basketball game.
Hope Glasser and Jayla Julmist recorded double-doubles for Sequim. Glasser put up 18 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, while Julmist added 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Melissa Porter had 13 points and Jessica Dietzman 10 points and six steals for the Wolves (2-0, 5-0).
“This was a total team effort for all four quarters,” Sequim coach Linsay Rapelje said.
Freshman Hannah Wagner added nine points and Kalli Wiker added eight for the Wolves.
“They apply a lot of defensive pressure, they are all good athletes, they are deep and they are active,” Forks coach David Hurn said.
“We came into the game wanting to shut them down, down low and make them beat us from the outside, and they definitely have the outside game going to beat you inside and outside. They are a good team and I think they will do big things this year.”
“I told the girls we drove head on into a storm and just couldn’t weather it. “You have to have your best game against teams like that.”
Rian Peters had a good night offensively for the Spartans with 14 points.
“I have to do a better job of finding her opportunities,” Hurn said. “She can handle the pressure and situation. She’s a great ball player and I have to find ways to get her the ball to take advantage of that.”
Sequim faced Bremerton late Tuesday, and will visit Klahowya on Friday.
Forks (2-2) will look to rebound away against Neah Bay (2-1) tonight. The Red Devils beat the Spartans 54-29 last week.
