SEQUIM — Sequim bombed away from outside, hitting 15 3-pointers in an 80-24 girls basketball romp over Olympic, setting up a huge game tonight with Port Angeles.
With the win Tuesday night, Sequim is in a position to gain a share of the Olympic League 2A championship with a win in tonight’s game against the Roughriders.
Port Angeles, after its easy win over Bremerton on Tuesday, is undefeated in league play, while Sequim has just one loss — in a game earlier this season to Port Angeles.
The Wolves could have threatened 100 points but put in their bench players in the fourth. Sequim had 70 points after three quarters.
“Our bench played the whole fourth quarter, giving the starters a rest and also stepping up and playing well, too,” Wolves coach Linsay Rapelje said.
Jessica Dietzman hit five 3-pointers and led the Wolves with 22 points. Dietzman also had five rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Kalli Wiker also hit five 3-pointers and scored 19. Wiker had five rebounds.
Hannah Wagner also hit a pair of 3-pointers while Kendall Hastings, Hannah Bates and Hope Glasser all had a 3-pointer.
Jayla Julmist scored nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks, while Glasser had nine points, three assists and three steals.
Sequim (10-1, 15-4) plays Port Angeles (11-0, 15-4) at 5:30 p.m. today. If the Wolves win, they tie the Riders and the two teams will play a tiebreaking third game Saturday to determine the No. 1 seed for playoffs.
Port Angeles athletic director Dwayne Johnson confirmed that in case of a tie for the top spot, a coin flip would be held following the game to decide the location of a potential Saturday tiebreaker — with the winner hosting the game.
If Sequim loses, the Wolves will finish second in the league and host a West Central District III playoff game Wednesday.

BREMERTON — The Roughriders led 19-0 after the first quarter and went on to cruise to a win over a last-place Bremerton squad.
The win earned Port Angeles a share of the Olympic League crown for the third straight season.
In Tuesday’s win, the Riders led 34-3 at the halftime break and 50-6 after three quarters.
“Our half-court man-to-man defense was very effective in the first half, forcing both turnovers and highly contested shots. Other impressive areas of our team’s play were offensive rebounding effort and effective ball movement in our zone offense,” said coach Michael Poindexter.
Eve Burke led Port Angeles with 13 points and six rebounds. Millie Long added 12 points and Jaida Wood scored nine.
Mikkiah Brady added eight points and six rebounds while Myra Walker had 10 rebounds.
Port Angeles (11-0, 15-4, No. 10 RPI) hosts Sequim (10-1, 15-4, No. 12 RPI) at 5:30 p.m. today.

SILVERDALE — The Cowboys got behind 17-4 after the first quarter, improved for the rest of the game but couldn’t quite dig out of the hole in a loss to the Eagles.
Chimacum was led by Alyssa Vandenberg with 12 points while Jadeah Nordberg had 11.
“It was a pretty dramatic improvement from the last time we played Klahowya,” said coach Trevor Huntingford. That was a 64-25 win for the Eagles.
“They like to press, they want to be in your face,” Huntingford said. He said it helped Chimacum that the referees started calling Klahowya for their contact.
“I was actually really pleased with our fight,” Huntingford said. “I was happy overall with the performance. We have tons to work on.”
Chimacum (0-6, 7-10) will wrap up its season tonight hosting Bremerton (0-13, 2-17) at 6:30 p.m.

BELFAIR — The Redhawks were missing a spark plug to illness and lost senior post Izzy Hammett to a concussion in a nonleague loss to the 2A Bulldogs.
“The girls pulled together and played very hard,” coach Lorraine Rimson said. “The first half was a new experience and intensity from North Mason that we had not experienced, but they rallied and played very hard.
Gina Brown led Port Townsend with 14 points.
“Gina Brown rose to the competitive challenge and I was very pleased to see that,” Rimson said. “Alyah Fountain started and played very well, and we are excited for what she will bring the rest of this year and next.”
The Redhawks (3-2, 7-12) visit Klahowya tonight.
