BELFAIR — The Roughriders shook off a game Bulldogs squad with pressure defense to take firm control of Thursday’s Olympic League contest.
“After an even first quarter, both our zone and man-to-man presses in the second and third quarter produced 22 North Mason turnovers, helping us to a 35-14 margin in those quarters,” coach Michael Poindexter said.
“Catie Brown, Jenna McGoff, Anna Petty, Bailee Larson and Angelina Sprague were particularly effective in our zone press that gave us the second quarter-burst to take control of the game.”
Eve Burke posted a double-double with 21 points, 12 rebounds and five steals.
Anna Petty added 10 points and four steals.
Larson led the Riders in assists with seven.
Port Angeles (2-0, 2-2) hosts Olympic on Tuesday.

FORKS — The Spartans clamped down defensively and rolled past the Indians with Keira Johnson hitting for 27 points and Kadie Wood adding 17.
“‘They came out firing right off the bat,” Forks coach David Hurn said. “When they play with energy on the defensive end they have success on the offensive end and a lot of that is in transition.”
Forks (2-0, 3-1) visits Ilwaco on Tuesday.

BREMERTON — The Loggers regrouped after a tough first quarter against the Warriors.
“Crescent Lady Loggers ran into a very good Crosspoint team,” coach Mike Hazelett said.
“I was very proud of how the very young team played. With no seniors on the team the future and this season looks very bright.
Kaylen Mason had 16 points to lead the way for Crescent (3-1).
The two squads meet again Monday at Crescent.
