JOYCE — Crescent took firm command of its North Olympic League contest with Clallam Bay in a second half sparked by the play of Ciara Cargo-Acosta.
“I thought we were playing a little careless,” coach Brian Shimko said. “We weren’t running our offense right, weren’t focused and playing up to the level we are capable of. But we started getting steals and forcing turnovers after halftime. We had 15 steals, and 10 came in the second half.”
Naomii Sprague led all scorers with 15 points for the Loggers.
Cargo-Acosta posted 13 points.
“Ciara led the team in rebounding, assists and steals in the second half and had 13 points with three 3-pointers,” Shimko said.
Alexis Dunavant also reached double digits in scoring (11) for the Loggers (9-4).
Audrey Gale had six points for the Loggers and also made a big impact defensively.
“Audrey had a great defensive game for us, especially in the second half,” Shimko said. “She had six blocks.”
The two squads will face off again at Clallam Bay on Friday night.

POULSBO — Wolves’ guards Bobbi Mixon and Gracie Chartraw led the Wolves on both ends of the court in a win over the Vikings.
“Bobbi shot the ball well, scoring 20 points, hitting four 3-pointers and did a good job of running the show,” coach Joclin Julmist said. Mixon also had five steals and four assists.
“Gracie led us in scoring with 21 points. She played great defense playing the passing lanes. She made three 3s and made some difficult shots going to the basket.” Chartraw added six steals and three assists.
Jolene Vaara totaled 16 points, with six steals and four rebounds.
“She did a good job finishing in the key,” Julmist said.
Sequim (7-3, 9-4) hosts North Mason on Friday.

Port Angeles 47, Olympic 14
BREMERTON — The Roughriders forced 33 Trojans turnovers and dominated on the offensive glass to offset a tough shooting night in an Olympic League road win Tuesday.
Port Angeles committed seven giveaways and had a 24-11 advantage in offensive rebounds.
“We were able to withstand a poor shooting night, especially inside, due to our big advantage in turnover margin and in offensive rebounding,” coach Michael Poindexter said. “We shot more than twice as many field goals as Olympic and shot 20 free throws to three for the Trojans.
“Highlights of the game were our defensive effort and execution, along with good ball movement against Olympic’s 1-3-1 zone. Lindsay Smith had a good all-around game with 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots. Her sister Lexie also had eight rebounds and led us with six steals.”
Port Angeles (8-1, 10-6) visits Bainbridge (9-1, 11-3) tonight at 7 p.m. in a first-place showdown.
The Spartans edged the Riders 44-40 in Port Angeles on Jan. 2.
