CHIMACUM — The Chimacum Cowboys were outmatched by the taller, more experienced Eagles in Nisqually League girls basketball action.
“Their length really bothered us,” Chimacum coach Trevor Huntingford said of Friday’s game.
Laura Goodnight paced Cedar Park Christian with 18 points.
Kiersten Snyder led the Cowboys with 13 points, and Lauren Thacker contributed eight.
“One positive thing I saw is the energy of the team,” Huntingford said.
“They’re all really positive and are helping each other out and not giving up.”
The Cowboys host Bellevue Christian on Tuesday.

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles picked up 27 points from guard Krista Johnson, including a perfect 7 for 7 from the free-throw line, to stay unbeaten in Olympic League play.
“She had an excellent all-around game,” Port Angeles coach Michael Poindexter said.
“She did a nice job at the top of our zone defense for us once again.”
Johnson and Roughriders point guard Maddy Hinrichs combined for seven 3-pointers on the night against the Bulldogs’ zone defense.
Hinrichs added 15 points for the Roughriders (10-0, 12-2), who led 28-17 at halftime and 39-23 after three quarters.
“I was happy with our defense overall, as we continued to work on developing a number of defensive options,” said Poindexter.
Port Angeles visits Kingston (7-3, 8-5) on Tuesday.

NEAH BAY — The Red Devils ran past an outmanned Bruins squad.
The Red Devils led 21-2 after one period and 42-6 at halftime.
Cierra Moss led all scorers with 18 points and hauled down a team-leading nine rebounds for the Red Devils (2-0, 8-1).
Jessica Greene added 10 and Holly Greene eight for Neah Bay.
Vonte Aguirre and Faye Chartraw had eight rebounds apiece for the Red Devils.
Inga Erickson led Clallam Bay with five points.

SEQUIM — A slow start to the second half tripped up the Wolves and set up a three-way tie for second in the Olympic League standings.
Sequim (7-3, 7-7) has now split the season series with the Trojans (7-3, 9-5) and will trip to Kingston (7-3, 8-5) next Friday needing a win to split the season series against the Buccaneers.
Down 24-20 at halftime, the Wolves managed just seven points in the third as Olympic took a 38-27 lead into the final period.
Caitlin Stofferahn led Sequim with 13 points.
Wolves’ leading scorer Alexas Besand was limited to nine points but had 18 rebounds.
Elise Beuke had eight points and six rebounds for the Wolves.
Sequim visits Kingston in a big Olympic League game on Friday.

KIRKLAND — Rangers point guard Megan Weller had 21 points, nine steals and six rebounds as the Rangers notched a road win against the Puget Sound Adventist Sharks.
“The girls played solid defense and moved the ball well up and down the court,” Quilcene coach Briana Weller said.
“They also did a much better job of slowing down the tempo and not rushing their offensive sets.”
Allison Jones had eight points, four assists and three steals for Quilcene and forward Bailey Kieffer chipped in with five points, including a 3-pointer along with seven rebounds and three assists.
The Rangers are now 3-7 in 1B Sea-Tac League play, 6-7 overall.

ELMA — The Eagles held the Spartans to four first-half points en route to an Evergreen 1A League win.
Brooke Goldsmith came within one assist of a triple-double for Elma, finishing with 15 points, 10 steals and nine assists; and Maddie Thompson scored a team-high 16 points.
Courtnie Paul led the Spartans with six points and freshman Skyler DeMatties added four.
Forks (1-6 in league, 5-9 overall) play at Rochester (5-2, 12-2) on Tuesday.
