FUN RUN: More than 220 competitors enjoy St. Patrick’s race in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — More than 220 participants competed in this weekends Red, Set, Go St. Patrick’s Day run/walk that raises funds for the Olympic Medical Center Heart Center.

The event is presented by Strait View Credit Union and featured runners in St. Patrick’s costumes.

Mike Higuera of Port Angeles won the men’s 10K in a time of 42 minutes, 5 seconds, besting second-place Joseph Gallegos of Port Angeles, who had a time of 46 minutes, 18 seconds.

The women’s 10K winner was Deborah Hostman of Port Angeles with a time of 54:00. Finishing second was Lucy Wait of Port Angeles in a time of 1:04:39.

Winning the men’s 5K was Chis Fields of Port Angeles in a time of 19:41, while Brian Tucker of Carlsborg finished second at 25:59.

Winning the women’s 5K, and third overall, was Katrin Junghanns-Royack of Port Angeles in a time of 29:03. Coming in second was Jessie Gilchist of Port Angeles with a time of 32:12.
