FRIDAY PREP ROUNDUP: Sequim softball crushes Bainbridge 23-4

BAINBRIDGE — The red-hot Sequim softball team scored 15 runs in the first two innings and went on to crush Bainbridge 23-4 on the road Friday.

The victory was the Wolves’ sixth out of their past eight games and keeps Sequim near the top of the standings in the very tough Olympic League. They got 12 hits and a complete-game victory on the mound from Lainey Vig, who went five innings, allowing just four hits and one earned run while striking out five.

Lexi King had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs. Vig was 2-for-5 at the plate with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Taylee Rome had a hit, four walks, four runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base. Angel Wagner had a hit, three runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base, while Mia Pozernick had a hit, two runs scored and two RBIs. Sammie Bacon added a pair of runs and Michaela Green a pair of RBIs.

The Wolves (6-2, 6-5) next play at Bremerton (0-7, 1-8) on Tuesday. Sequim beat Bremerton 26-11 earlier this season.

Girls tennis Port Angeles 7, Kingston 0

KINGSTON — The Port Angeles girls tennis team swept Kingston with two singles players and two doubles teams all winning in straight sets.

Liberty Lauer beat Kingston’s Christina Prescot 6-0, 6-1 while Waverly Mead beat Chloe Rosas 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, the duo of Gwyneth Van Blair and Bella Artis beat Kingston’s Kiamma Clay and Kyle Sandstrom 6-4, 6-4 while the team of Sarah Hancock and Bridget Weed beat Elena Casanova and Rafa Tuner 6-0, 6-0.

Kayla Jones won her singles match by default and the doubles teams of Abby Robinson/Summer-Hirst Lowe and Katie Sperr-Crane and Rylie Medley also won by default.
