PORT ANGELES — There were repeat winners in every classification at this weekend’s American Sprint Boat Racing action at Extreme Sports Park west of Port Angeles.
Winning the powerful unlimited class was the No. 285 Pure Insanity boat driven by River Rogers and navigated by Cole Keatts. Coming in second was the No. 27 Preventing Insanity boat driven by Leighton Lillie and navigated by Cody Holzer. Third was the Port Angeles-based No. 10 Wicked Racing boat driven by Dan Morrison and navigated by Sami Gustafson.
Winning the 400 class was the No. 180 Jolly Roger boat driven by Eric Werner and navigated by Jen Farmer. Coming in second place was a new New Zealand boat, the No. 288 Red Baron driven by Bryce Baron and navigated by Patrick Hayden. Coming in third was No. 156 Bad Influence, driven by Steven Church and navigated by Randi Church.
The winner of the modified class was the No. 55 CheckMate boat driven by Frank Toftenmark and navigated by Kelly Toftenmark. They won by the incredibly close margin of 0.002 of a second over the No. 208 Jolly Roger boat driven by TJ Burrow and navigated by Keith Brownsberger. Coming in third was the No. 154 Purcell boat, driven by Jeff Purcell and navigated by Margaret Purcell.
All three of the classification winners won the first race of the ASBR series held June 7-8 in Lewiston, Idaho.
The ASBR races return to Lewiston for a weekend of races Aug. 2-3, then travel to Yakima on Aug. 16-17. The series returns to the Extreme Sports Park for a second weekend of races Sept. 6-7.
