DISTRICT TRACK: PT’s Dances wins three events, PA’s Long two

RENTON — Port Angeles’ Gracie Long won both the 1,600 and 3,200 races at the West Central 2A meet this weekend, while Port Townsend’s Seren Dances won the 110-meter hurdles, the 300-meter hurdles and the long jump in the West Central 1A meet.

The 1A and 2A West Central meets were held concurrently at Renton Stadium on Friday and Saturday.

Dances, who has won in 22 events this track season, will compete in four events at state, as he also finished second in the triple jump. Dances’ 15-flat time in the 110 hurdles is the fastest time in the state at the 1A level. He also has the top distance in the long jump in the state (23-1), the second-longest triple jump (45-0 1/4)and the second-fastest 300-meter hurdles time (40.06), so Dances has the potential to come back from Cheney with a lot of hardware.
