COLLEGE SOCCER: Peninsula’s Halle Watson signs with University of San Francisco

Peninsula Daily News

PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College center back Halle Watson signed a national letter of intent Thursday to play at Division I University of San Francisco.

Watson was named second team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches and was named to the Northwest Conference All-Starand All-Academic teams.

The sophomore from Las Vegas led a powerful Pirate defense to three straight shutouts in the quarterfinal, semifinal and championship matches in the NWAC tournament to help lift the Pirates to their fourth NWAC championship back in November.

“We have been very fortunate with amazing players wearing the black and gold over the last nine years, but we have never had a player represent the program better than Halle Watson,” head coach Kanyon Anderson said. “She is an All-American on the field, she is an honor student and she is a fantastic teammate. I knew Halle was good when I recruited her but I had no idea how good she would become for us.”

The San Francisco Dons play in the West Coast Conference.

“San Francisco is getting a big time center back and a strong leader,” Anderson said. “I couldn’t be happier for Halle and her family, and I couldn’t be prouder to have been a part of her career.”
