TUKWILA — Peninsula College men’s and women’s soccer teams produced the most All-Stars of any team in the NWAC North Region and men’s coach Jake Hughes and women’s coach Kanyon Anderson earned Region Coach of the Year Honors as the NWAC All-Star teams were released this week.
Women’s selections include sophomore forward Miya Clarke, who has a team-high seven assists this season; sophomore midfielder Grace Johnson, who is tied for the team high in goals (eight) with Millie Long and leads the Pirates in total scoring with 20 points (eight goals, four assists); and freshman midfielder Chiaki Takase, who has four goals and two assists on the year.
Freshmen defenders Kascia Muscutt and Caneel Corpuz also earned All-Star selection, as well as goalkeeper Musuai Isaia, tops in the NWAC in goals-against-average (0.18) and shutouts (10).
Whatcom’s Eden Fawcett was selected as North Region MVP.
The Pirate women will seek their 10th NWAC Championship appearance in today’s semifinal contest against Columbia Basin at 4:30 p.m.
Peninsula, with Anderson as head coach, has won four NWAC titles since 2012.

Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within the last 72 hours are required for admission to the NWAC Soccer Championships today and Sunday at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila.
Tickets are available in advance at nwacsports.org or in person with prices ranging from $17 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, $7 for ages 7-12 and free for 6 and younger and military members with valid IDs.
Parking also is a $6 charge.
The Pirates semifinal appearance today at 4 p.m. against Columbia Basin will be steamed online at nwacsportsnetwork.com. Fees are $10 for single matches and $25 for a tournament pass. Sunday’s championship game also will be live streamed beginning at 4:30 p.m.
PC Men
Hughes shared Region coach of the year honors with Skagit Valley’s Jordan Carver.
Sophomore forward Nico Hernandez, the Pirates’ leading goal-scorer with 10 goals and three assists, was tabbed for the All-Star squad, along with defensive-minded sophomore midfielder Jeong Hyun Kang (one goal) and freshman midfielder Fernando Tavares. Tavares had three goals and two assists for Peninsula this fall.
Pirates sophomore defender Chris Dominguez, who also had four goals, and freshman defender Dylan Pauw, who scored twice and totaled three assists, also were All-Star picks.
Goalkeeper Ian Dalton, who earned five shutouts in eight matches, also earned an All-Star nod.
Everett’s River Stewart was picked as Region MVP.
They will play in Sunday’s Men’s All-Star Game at 9 a.m.
If the Peninsula women win today’s semifinal they will not play in Sunday’s 11 a.m. All-Star Game.
The all-star contests will not be live streamed.
