TUKWILA — Angel Guerra and Emily Flinn recorded shutouts for the Peninsula College as the Pirates swept Bellevue in a doubleheader at Starfire Complex.
The women’s game was scoreless until a cross by Peninsula’s Alyssa Bertuleit set up a goal for Larkyn Nelson in the 90th minute to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead.
“It was an important game for us because it forced us to generate attack from our wide attacking players,” Peninsula coach Kanyon Anderson said after Saturday’s game.
“Our defense was great. Our fifth consecutive shutout.”
Flinn’s shutout was her fourth of the season, which ranks seventh in the NWAACC.
It was the Pirates’ eighth shutout of the season (Kasie Lough has three and Emily Morgan has one). Only Walla Walla, with 10, has more.
During its streak of five straight shutouts, Peninsula has outscored its opponents 22-0.
The Pirates (10-0, 11-2) are the only unbeaten, untied team in the NWAACC. They play
at Lower Columbia College
on Wednesday.
The Red Devils (1-9, 1-13) have scored six goals this season and allowed 50, both marks that rank second-to-last in the NWAACC.

Peninsula 2, Bellevue 0
TUKWILA — Guerra recorded his NWAACC-leading seventh shutout at Starfire Complex.
After being held to a scoreless tie by Olympic on Wednesday, the Pirates came out and scored early on Bellevue (5-3-2, 6-4-2) on Saturday.
Victor Sanchez found the goal in the games fourth minute off an assist by Kalei Gallarde to put Peninsula ahead 1-0.
Gallarde hooked up with Erick Urzua in the 35th minute for the 2-0 advantage.
Gallarde’s two assists give him seven on the season, which is tied for fifth in the NWAACC with teammate Alex Martinez. Peninsula’s Ash Apollon still leads the conference with 15.
The Pirates, ranked No. 1 in the NWAACC and seventh in the nation, have three straight shutouts. Their eight shutouts overall is tied with Walla Walla and Clark for best in the conference.
They have only allowed 10 goals this season, which is second only to Walla Walla.
Peninsula (8-0-1, 14-0-2) is off until Saturday when it hosts Tacoma (4-4, 5-7) at Wally Sigmar Field.
