COLLEGE SOCCER: PC men, women blank Skagit Valley

PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula women maintain their dominance of the North Division with a 7-0 shutout over Skagit Valley at Sigmar Field Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Pirate men won their second straight likewise by shutout, winning 3-0 over Skagit. It was the men’s first shutout of the season.

The Pirates got goals from six different women. Samantha Guzman scored two goals, while Brianna Duran, Taylor Graham, Jayna Morikawa, Janis Martinez-Ortiz and Madelene Parton all scorted goals.

Sydney Warren, Kelly Kevershan, Tatiana Hagan and Jordyn DiCintio added assists for the Pirates.

The Pirates have won their past four games by the combined score of 36-1.

Peninsula (3-0, 6-0) next plays Whatcom at 2 p.m. Wednesday at home. Whatcom (2-1) is in second place in the North Division a game behind the Pirates. Whatcom has the two leading goal scorers — Kayla Heidenreich and Payton Lunde — in the Northwest Athletic Conference with eight goals apiece.

The Peninsula men got two goals from Joey Hollimon and another goal from Cesar Gervacio in their win. Juan Carrillo-Perez added an assist. Darius Ochoa made three saves in goal to pick up the shutout.

The Pirates (2-0-1, 4-1-1) have a big game at 4 p.m. Wednesday for first place in the North Division. Whatcom comes into that game 3-0 in the North Division.
