PORT ANGELES — The Pirates got goals from five different players as they kept pace with Whatcom for the North Division title.
It was also the eighth straight match without a loss (6-0-2) for the Pirates.
Hide Inoue got the Pirates on the board in a hurry, scoring in the third minute on an assist from Emmanuel Lopez. Yuki Lavoie and Michael Benito scored in the first half as the Pirates took a 3-0 lead into the break.
Peninsula quickly built the score to 5-0 and Isael Lopez-Pacencia picked up a goal in the 48th minute and Pablo Medina scored a goal in the 51st minute. The Pirates nearly had a shutout, but Shoreline scored in the 85th minute.
The Pirates outshot the Dolphins 26-2 and forced Shoreline goalkeeper Genaro Ruis to make 11 saves.
With the win, the Pirates are 8-1-2 (9-3-2) in North Division play with 26 points, one point behind Whatcom (8-0-3, 27 points), who the Pirates have tied twice.
The Pirates have a home match at 2 p.m. Wednesday against Everett (6-5-0, 9-7-0). The Trojans have split two earlier matches against the Pirates.

Peninsula 10, Shoreline 0
PORT ANGELES — The Pirates got four goals from Samantha Oliveira and outshot a weak Shoreline team 40-0 in a 10-0 win at Sigmar Field that locked up at least a share of the North Division title.
The Pirates, who have had six matches this year in which they’ve scored three or fewer goals, have exploded in their past two matches with 23 goals combined.
Chloe Keenan-Merlo and Andrea Kenagy get credit for the shutout, though neither goalie had to make a save. Shoreline goal’s Jennifer Niyazova made 10 saves.
Grace Hipke scored two goals, while Breanne Kuni, Sammy Howa, Taylor Graham and Kaiya Denis all scored goals, with Graham and Denis also picking up assists.
Also picking up assists were Shantel Torres-Benito, Sydney Zeitler and Nicolette Paredes.
With the past two wins of 10-0 and 13-1, the Pirates have now outscored their league opponents 70-3 and for the entire season have outscored their opponents 76-9.
There was little doubt how this match would likely go as Shoreline is a struggling program still looking for its first win of the year. In three matches this year, the Pirates outscored the Dolphins 26-0. The win keeps the Pirates well out in first place of the North Division (10-0-1 31 points, 12-2-1). Second-place Edmonds is nine points behind the Pirates with three matches to play so cannot pass them in the standings.
With her 4-goal match, Oliveira is now second in the NWAC with her 18 goals on the season and second in points with 40.
Peninsula’s next game will be against Everett (4-7-0, 4-10-2) at 2 p.m. Wednesday. This match will conclude a long five-match homestand and the Pirates will play their final three league matches on the road. But, both the men and the women will almost assuredly return to Sigmar for the postseason.
