EDMONDS — The Peninsula College men’s basketball team won a double-overtime 101-99 thriller over Edmonds to remain in the thick of the postseason hunt.
The win was crucial for the men’s playoff chances as they sit at 5-4 in the North Region, tied for fourth place.
The women, meanwhile, cruised to 96-66 victory over Edmonds with their highest offensive output of the year to remain unbeaten in the North Region.
The men got 26 points each from Isaiah Lopez and Jaiden Blackmon, 12 each from Antonio Odum and Cinco McNeal and nine each from Akeem Sulaiman and Albin Rosenlund. McNeal added 10 rebounds.
The men had a 68-55 lead with 8:27 left in regulation but the Tritons went on a 22-8 run over the next 6½ minutes to take lead at 77-76 with 1:49 left. The Tritons had an 83-82 lead with three seconds left when Blackmon made one of two free throws to send the game to overtime.
In the first overtime, Edmonds got up 90-85 but the Pirates fought back behind a Lopez 3-pointer and a Sulaiman 2-pointer. With Edmonds holding a 92-90 lead with 27 second left, Lopez hit pair of free throws to tie the game up again, sending it to a second overtime when the Tritons missed a shot a the buzzer.
In the second overtime, Blackmon hit what turned out to be the game-winning shot with 50 seconds left to make it 100-98. After Edmonds split a pair of free throws, Blackmon added a free throw with 12 seconds left. The Pirates got the ball back on the rebound and Edmonds never got a chance for a final shot.
Peninsula (5-4, 11-11) host Bellevue (5-3, 10-13) at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

EDMONDS — The Peninsula women’s basketball team dominated the boards and hit nine 3-pointers en route to a 96-66 pasting of the Tritons, the 16th win in a row for the Pirates.
The Pirates were led by Neah Bay’s Ryana Moss, who shot 5-for-9 from 3-point range and scored 19 points to go along with five steals. Ciera Agasiva Tugabe shot 3-for-5 from beyond the arc and scored 25.
Carliese O’Brien had 12 points to go along with seven assists and Alexa Mackey shot 7-for-8 from the free-throw line while scoring 11.
Makena Patrick came off the bench to score 19 while grabbing seven rebounds. Forks’ Kadie Wood added a 3-pointer.
The Pirates outrebounded Edmonds 45-30, had 14 steals and forced 18 turnovers. As a result, Peninsula got off 78 shots to Edmonds’ 57.
The Pirates (9-0, 17-2), next host Bellevue (5-2, 13-10) at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
