PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula College women remained tied for first place with a come-from-behind 52-48 win over Olympic.
The win puts the women at 6-3 in the North Division, tied with Olympic and Bellevue for tops in the North Division.
The Peninsula men also beat Olympic 68-65 on a clutch shot by Davien Harris-Williams, holding off a huge Trojans comeback in the second half, to go to 5-4 in the North Division.
In the women’s game, the Trojans had a lead of 41-36 with 7:55 remaining in the game when the Pirates rallied. Leilani Padilla began the rally by getting fouled while shooting a 3-pointer, making three straight free throws. Casandra White followed that by making a 3-pointer to give the Pirates a 42-41 lead.
The two teams jostled for the lead with the Trojans up 48-47 at the 3:00 mark after a 3-pointer by Katie Campana. However, those were the final points Peninsula allowed.
Sunshine Vicente made a 3-pointer for the Pirates to give Peninsula a 50-48 lead with 2:24 left and she added a layup with 1:45 left for the final margin as Olympic went 0-4 on its shots in the final stretch. Vicente and Ashlynn Sharp added defensive rebounds in the final 1:45.
Padilla led the team with three 3-pointers and 14 points. Kuutuuq Danner had 12 points and 11 rebounds, while White scored eight. Sharp didn’t score any points, but added seven assists and seven rebounds.
The women will try to remain in first place after today, playing a home game at 4 p.m. against Edmonds (4-5, 9-8) in a game rescheduled due to last week’s snowstorms.

Peninsula 68, Olympic 65
PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula men built up a huge lead against the Trojans, but had to hold on tight down the stretch to pull out a 68-65 win.
The Pirates got up 31-19 at the half and stretched that lead up to 43-26 with 17:07 left in the game after Harris-Williams made a 3-pointer and added a free throw to open up the Pirates’ biggest lead of the game.
But, the Trojans made a late run to chip away at that big lead, outscoring Peninsula 25-8 over the next 10 minutes to tie the game at 51-51 with 7 minutes left. The Pirates were able to open up a six-point lead, but the Trojans rallied again to tie it at 65-65 with 17 seconds left.
Harris-Williams, who finished the game with three 3-pointers, 23 points and seven rebounds (with 15 of his points coming in the second half), responded by hitting a 3-pointer in the finals seconds. The Trojans got off a 3-pointer at the end of the game, but missed to give the Pirates a win.
The Pirates made 10 3-pointers (shooting 10-32). Nyair Cleveland had four treys and finished with 20 points and with rebounds. Erik Kelly had a pair of 3-pointers and had 12 points. Samuel Kahapea added eight boards.
The win keeps the Pirates (5-4 8-15) in a playoff spot, tied for third in the North Division. They play at home at 6 p.m. today against second-place Edmonds (6-3, 15-8).
