PORT ANGELES — With the North Region and the No. 1 seed to the NWAC Tournament locked up, Peninsula College fell 85-71 to Everett in a sophomore night clash Wednesday night.
The Pirates spotted the Trojans a 10-0 lead to start the contest and Peninsula never was able to make up the margin, although it did cut the lead to 27-25 late in the first half.
Peninsula allowed Everett to shoot 54 percent from the field on the night (36 of 67) and struggled on the offensive end, hitting just 27 of 69 shots (39 percent).
Roosevelt Williams Jr. led the Pirates with 23 points on 10 of 17 shooting. He added eight rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Ese Onakpoma was 7 of 11 for 17 points along with four rebounds, two assists and a steal, and Mikey Medlock added 17 points, four boards and four assists.
Peninsula (11-3, 24-4) will take on the East No. 4, either host Columbia Basin or Spokane, in the Sweet 16 round of the NWAC Tournament at noon Saturday, March 11.
