BELLINGHAM — Former Port Angeles basketball and track and field standout Liam Clark has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Western Washington University.
The 6-foot-8 Clark has spent the previous two seasons playing at Clark College after graduating as the top shot blocker in Port Angeles history in 2019.
He was the Peninsula Daily News’ All-Peninsula boys basketball MVP as a junior in 2017-18 and a team member in 2018-19.
As a sophomore this winter, Clark averaged a near double-double every time out, posting per-game averages of 15.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
He was the second-best shooter from the floor at 65.6 percent in the Northwest Athletic Conference, ninth in defensive rebounds and fifth in blocked shots.
“We are very happy for Liam,” said Clark head coach Kevin Johnson.
“He is a great example of what hard work and dedication on and off the floor leads to. We look forward to following his continued success at Western Washington University.”
Clark will join a Vikings team that is coming off a 14-14 season and a first-round exit in the NCAA Division II Great Northwest Athletic Conference Tournament.
Western Washington has recorded eight 20-plus winning seasons in the last 12 years, most under current head coach Tony Dominguez.
