EVERETT — The Peninsula men and women continued their recent hot streaks, beating Everett on the road to both go 2-0 in NWAC North Division play.

The men won Saturday 90-70 for their fifth straight victory and their ninth out of their past 10 games. The women won 84-61 for their fourth straight W and their sixth out of their past seven games.

The Pirate men (11-3, 2-0) scored 90 or more points for the fifth time out of 14 games. They are also averaging 100.3 points a game over their past five games.

The men had a balanced offensive attack, with five players in double figures. Alex Baham and Darrion Daniels led the Pirates with 19 points each. Baham hit four 3-pointers on nine shots from beyond the arc, while Daniels shot 3-for-4 from 3-point range. Daniels also had seven assists.

Coach Mitch Freeman said the men actually got off to a slow start, partly because their bus broke down and they had difficulty simply getting to Everett. But once they warmed up, they erupted for 56 points in the second half, shooting 56 percent ofr the half.

“We had a great second half, our guys showed toughness,” he said.

This game was typical of a Pirates’ win, with no one player dominating the offense and a bunch of players in double figures.

”Our guys are playing together and playing selfless basektball,” Freeman said. “They’ve got the ability to find the hot hand.”

Kevin Baker scored 14 with six rebounds and three blocks. Omar Lo and Trent Warren each scored 13 as Warren hit three 3-pointers. Lo added 11 boards and Warren pulled down eight rebounds.

Jalon McCullough also added seven assists.

The Pirates finally play a home game at 7 p.m. Wednesday against Olympic. The Pirates have played one home game since Dec. 7.
