COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Peninsula women win sixth straight

BREMERTON — The Peninsula men and women split a pair of games against North Region foe Olympic on Saturday.

The women easily won their game 70-38, their sixth win in a row, while the men lost a close one 71-67.

The women are unbeaten so far since the NWAC restarted play after a two-week hiatus in response to the latest wave of COVID-19 cases.

In the women’s game, the Pirates were led by Ituau Tuisaula with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Port Angeles’ Madison Cooke had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Sequim High graduate Hope Glasser had eight points, six rebounds and four assists.

Peninsula (2-0, 11-2) next plays at home at 5 p.m. Wednesday against Whatcom (2-0, 9-1), tied for first in the North Region with the Pirates.

Men’s game

The Pirates men locked up in a close game throughout against Olympic. Neither team ever had a lead bigger than six points.

Peninsula was led by Jaylin Reed with 21 points, while Rayshawn Harris had 18 and Michael Medlock had 14. Isaiah Sampson added nine points and KeAndre Hunter-Holiday had nine rebounds.

The Pirates (1-1, 9-5) next play Whatcom (0-2, 8-8) at home at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
