COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Peninsula teams put six on all-North squads

PORT ANGELES — As expected, the North Region-champion Peninsula College women are filling up the roster of the all-North teams.

Named to the first team North was Ciera Tugade Agasiva and to the second team, Shania Moananu.

Named to the North’s all-defensive team was Alexa Mackey and Carliese O’Brien.

Also named the co-coach of the year for the North was Alison Crumb. Alyson Kawaka of Olympic was the other co-coach of the year.

Crumb led the Pirates to a 14-0 record in the North and a 22-2 overall record. Peninsula begins play today in the Northwest Athletic Conference tournament.

In fact, the Pirates women have won 40 straight games in the North Region as Crumb led her team to its fourth straight North title this season.

Agasiva averaged 12.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists a game, while Moananu, who missed a few games to a knee injury, averaged 10.2 points and 4.5 rebounds a game.

Mackey averaged 7.3 rebounds a game and added 41 steals and 19 blocked shots. O’Brien had 44 steals.

Also making the first team was Allie Greene of Neah Bay, who plays for Olympic. Greene averaged 15.4 points a game and hit 75 3-pointers, shooting 39.5 percent for the year on her treys.

For the men, Jaiden Blackmon, the team’s leading scorer, made the North’s second team, while Akeem Sulaiman made the all-defensive team.

Blackmon averaged 15.3 points and 5.2 rebounds a game. Sulaiman averaged 6.7 rebounds a game and had 30 blocked shots.
