BREMERTON — The Peninsula women kept up their hot play from the end of their home win last week, crushing Olympic 70-29 on the road to force a tie for second place in the NWAC’s North Division.
The Pirates men also beat Olympic 85-63 in Saturday’s road games, pulling away in the second half, to keep themselves in range of a North Division title.
In the women’s game, the Pirates held Olympic to just one point in the third quarter, outscoring the Rangers 19-1.
The women also outscored Skagit Valley 20-4 down the stretch last Wednesday, meaning they have outscored their opponents by a combined 90-33 over the past 47 minutes of play.
The Pirates had 17 steals and 52-32 edge in rebounding.
Leading a balanced attack Leilani Padilla, who scored 17. Logan Luke and Kameron Bowen each scored 11, with Luke pulling down seven boards and making six steals. Bowen had eight boards.
Casandra White had nine points and six steals and Kayla Johnson led the team with 11 rebounds to go with seven points and five assists.
Peninsula (8-3, 15-7) is tied with Bellevue for second place. The Pirates have a very tough home game at 5 p.m. Wednesday against first-place Whatcom (10-1, 19-7).

Peninsula Men
The Peninsula men, perhaps letting down a bit after an emotional win over the No. 1-ranked Skagit Valley Cardinals last week, got off to a bit of a sluggish start against a weak Olympic team, holding just a 39-36 lead after the first half.
But, much like the Skagit Valley game, the men erupted with a 46-point second half, running away with a relatively easy 22-point win.
Davien Harris-Williams, coming off a 32-point game against Skagit Valley, scored 27 to lead the Pirates again. He hit three 3-pointers.
The Pirates had a balanced attack, with five players scoring at least nine points. Malik Moore had 11 points, while Marquis Gurske and Nate Despain each scored 10. Jaylin Reed scored nine points. Gurske had a double-double with 10 rebounds.
The win keeps the Pirates (8-3, 18-5) in third place just one game behind Everett (9-2, 22-4) and Skagit Valley (9-2, 24-2) in a very tough North Division. Peninsula gets another crack at Everett this season, but is done with Skagit Valley until the NWAC Tournament.
Peninsula’s next game is hosting Whatcom (2-9, 5-18) at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
