COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Peninsula men win their third in a row

TACOMA — The Peninsula basketball men won their third straight, erupting for 93 points and 10 3-pointers in a 93-84 win over Big Bend at the West Crossover Tournament at Tacoma College.

Colby Jackson led the Pirates in Friday’s game, shooting 4 for 6 on his treys and scoring 21 points. Kaelin Crane had 20 points and six rebounds, while Trent Warren had 14 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.

Cole Huish scored 10 and Zach Day came off the bench to score nine and pull down six boards.

The Pirates shot 50 percent (10 for 20) on their 3-pointers. They also got a measure of revenge on Big Bend, which beat the Pirates 72-69 in November.

Peninsula played Saturday against Umpqua and will play at 2 p.m. today against Tacoma at the crossover tournament.

Women’s Basketball

Mount Hood 70, Peninsula 57

CENTRALIA — The Peninsula women are still looking for their first win of the year after a 70-57 loss to Mount Hood at the women’s West Crossover Tournament in Centralia.

Ashlynn Sharp led the Pirates with six 3-pointers and 24 points in Friday’s game. Jamellia Clark scored 18 and Tiffani Smith nine.

Peninsula (0-6) played Centralia on Saturday after press deadline. They are scheduled to play Walla Walla at noon today aat the tournament.
