BREMERTON — Peninsula held off a last-gasp 3-point attempt by Olympic and came away with an 84-82 overtime victory over the Rangers in a Northwest Athletic Conference men’s basketball win.
Olympic had two chances to take the lead back from the Pirates in the final 15 seconds of overtime. Looking for the last shot while down 83-82, the Rangers’ Ryan Mobley turned the ball over on a pass out of bounds while trying to find teammate David Tserger for a 3-point basket.
Kaelin Crane then hit one of two free throws with 2.2 seconds for Peninsula.
Olympic took the ball out of bounds and got it to Tserger on the left side of the court. Tserger dribbled upcourt and heaved a long 3-point shot while defended by the Pirates’ Trent Warren. Tserger’s shot was short off the glass, preserving Peninsula’s win.
Forks’ Marky Adams led the Pirates with a monster stat line. The 6-foot-10 post tallied 20 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks. Adams shot 1o of 11 from the floor in his 29 minutes of game action.
Point guard Colby Jackson scored 16 points and had four assists for Peninsula. Cameron Burton came off the bench to can 14 points, grab seven rebounds and dish out three assists.
Warren had 13 points and six rebounds.
It was Peninsula’s second-straight overtime contest after falling 101-88 to Everett last Saturday.
Peninsula (2-1, 12-6) visits Bellevue (1-2, 12-6) on Saturday at 6 p.m.

BREMERTON — The Pirates couldn’t overcome a slow first quarter and poor shooting in a road loss to the Rangers.
Peninsula trailed 15-6 after the first 10 minutes and ended up shooting just 14 of 62 from the field and 7 of 14 from the free-throw line for the game. Half of the Pirates’ made baskets were 3-pointers (7 of 22).
Ashlynn Sharp hit five of those 3s on her way to leading all scorers with 19 points for Peninsula. She added four rebounds and two steals.
Jamellia Clark added nine points and 13 rebounds and Tiffani Smith had eight points and three steals.
Olympic’s Mechelle and Shanya Nisbet, freshman twins from Chimacum, scored three and four points, respectively. Mechelle hit all three free throws she attempted, while Shanya was 2 for 2 from the floor.
The Pirates (0-2, 2-12) visit Bellevue (2-1, 12-7) at 4 p.m. Saturday.
