EDMONDS — The Peninsula College men blew out two both opponents at the Triton-Pirate Classic at Edmonds Community College this weekend, crushing Grays Harbor 75-52 on Sunday and beating Centralia handily 86-61 on Saturday.
Colby Jackson had a great game against Grays Harbor, scoring 22 points with eight assists. Kaelin Crane added 15 points, while Cole Huish had nine points on 3 for 5 shooting from beyond the 3-point line. The Pirates showed good depth with Marky Adams scoring eight and James Buckley and Eli’sha Sheppard each scoring seven. Trent Warren added 12 rebounds.
Against Centralia, the Pirates dominated the boards and got a great performance from Warren in storming to a big 86-61 win.
Warren had a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. He shot 8 for 11 from the floor, including 4 for 7 from beyond the 3-point line.
Sheppard also scored 12 points and pulled down nine boards, while Jackson had a full stat-line with 13 points, six assists and five steals. Crane had 11 points and Buckley eight points. Adams added six points and eight rebounds.
Other than Warren, the Pirates didn’t shoot particularly well in the Centralia game, but it didn’t matter because they dominated so thoroughly on the boards. The Pirates had 47 rebounds to just 25 for Centralia, leading to 75 Peninsula shots and just 54 for Centralia.
The Pirates (5-3) next plays Big Bend at the Tacoma Crossover Tournament on Friday.

PUYALLUP — The Peninsula women are still looking for their first win of the season, losing two at the Raiders Holiday Invitational this weekend.
The women lost to Columbia Basin on Saturday 51-33 after losing a painfully close one to Wenatchee Valley 64-63 Friday night.
In Saturday’s game, Ashlynn Sharp led the Pirates with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Kayla Alvarez had nine points. Jamellia Clark had seven points and 13 rebounds.
Friday’s game with Wenatchee Valley was close throughout with neither team building up a big lead. Wenatchee Valley had a 32-28 lead at the half.
Leading the Pirates was Sharp, who poured in 21 points on six 3-pointers. Tiffani Smith scored 10 and three different players — Clark, Alvarez and Yamelei Rodriguez — all scored nine points.
The Peninsula women shot well from outside, making 11 out of 20 shots from beyond the arc.
Peninsula (0-5) will next play Friday at the West Region Crossover Tournament against Mount Hood.
