TACOMA — The Peninsula basketball men scored 103 points and had six players in double figures in a 103-75 win over Tacoma in the Pirates’ final tuneup before they begin North Division play.

Darrion Daniels led the Pirates with 22 points and nine rebounds in Saturday’s game, while Kevin Baker had another efficient game, shooting 9-for-12, scoring 18 points to go with nine rebounds.

Jalon McCullough shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and scored 17. Alex Baham and Omar Lo each scored 11 and Lo added eight rebounds, while Trent Warren scored 10.

“I think the guys are fully buying into how they have to play. They’re really starting to gel,” said coach Mitch Freeman.

Baker is leading the entire Northwest Athletic Conference in field goal percentage. He is shooting an eye-popping 72.9 percent from the floor this season.

The Pirates (8-3) have won seven out of their last eight games. They have also scored over 100 points in two out of their last three games.

Peninsula begins North Division play Wednesday at Shoreline.

Interestingly, North Division foe Skagit Valley scored 133 points Saturday in a win over Northwest Indian. The Pirates play Skagit Valley on Jan. 25.
