BELLEVUE — For the second time in a week, the Peninsula men had a heartbreaking loss with an opponents’ shot in the final seconds providing the dagger.
The Pirate men have had a wild rollercoaster week, losing an overtime game at home — a game that went to overtime because Everett made a clutch 3-pointer with 2.7 seconds left to tie the game. Then, the men came back and won an overtime game Thursday against Olympic 84-82.
On Saturday, the men were hanging on to a one-point lead on the road, 60-59 in the final seconds when Bellevue’s Ting-Jhao Jian made a bucket at the buzzer to give the Bulldogs a 61-60 win.
Jian scored a total of seven of his nine points in the final 4:40 of the game as the Bulldogs came back from a 55-47 deficit down the stretch.
The good news for the Pirates is after two heartbreaking losses, they are still in a huge logjam for second place in the North Division. Everett is leading the division with a 3-1 record, while six teams, including Peninsula are tied for second at 2-2.
Cameron Burton led a balanced Pirates attack with 15 points. Six Peninsula players scored at least eight points. Trent Warren had 10 points, while Colby Jackson had nine points and eight assists and Eli’sha Sheppard had nine points and six rebounds. Kaelin Crane had eight points and eight rebounds, while Marky Adams had eight points.
Peninsula (2-2, 12-7) next plays Skagit Valley at home at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

BELLEVUE — The Peninsula women were only able to shot 23.9 percent from the floor in a 57-42 road loss against Bellevue.
A bright spot in the loss was 17 points and 10 rebounds by Jamelia Clark. Ashlynn Sharp and Yamelei Rodriguez each had nine rebounds, with Rodriguez adding six points and Sharp five assists. Jocelyn Moore also added six points and Tiffani Smith had eight rebounds.
The Peninsula women (0-3, 2-13) next play at home against Skagit Valley at 5 p.m.
