COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Peninsula men hit 100 points in win

EDMONDS — The Peninsula men cracked 100 points for the first time this year and they needed almost all of those points in a 100-93 road win over Edmonds.

The men had a 50-33 lead at the half, but the Tritons responded with a 60-point second half to make a game of it. At one point, Edmonds had cut the lead to 87-83 with 1:56 left to play, but a 3-pointer and six straight free throws by the Pirates’ Cameron Burton pushed the lead back up to 11 points at 96-85 with 49 seconds to play, effectively sealing the win.

Burton ended up scoring 21 points (nine of those points coming in the final two minutes), with four assists and three steals, while Colby Jackson had his biggest game of the year, making seven 3-pointers and scoring 34 points to go along with six rebounds.

Marky Adams had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Eli’sha Sheppard had nine points. Trent Warren added eight boards.

As a team, the Pirates shot 52 percent (13 for 25) on their 3-point attempts. Burton and Jackson combined to shoot 77 percent (10 for 13) on their treys.

The win puts the Pirates back at .500 in North Division play, tied for third place at 3-3.

Peninsula (3-3, 13-8) next plays at Whatcom at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
