CAL RIPKEN BASEBALL: Elks rolls to win Cal Ripken Majors

PORT ANGELES — After coming up just short in last year’s championship game, Elks knocked off the Lions 16-6 in the Cal Ripken Majors championship game this weekend to claim the city trophy.

Elks’ Noah Johnstad struck out seven and walked one in five innings on the mound, while also going 3-for-4 at the plate. Cooper Merritt finished up with an inning of work, striking out one. He also hit 2-for-3.

On the offensive end, Kyler Williams was huge for Elks, going 5-for-5. Boe Horejsi went 2-for-3 with two walks.

The majors was one of several championships held this weekend. The 16U softball champions was KONP, the 12U softball champion was Port Angeles Power, the Minor Softball champion was Diamond Roofing and the Triple AAA Minors baseball champion was Frame & Eye.
