BRIEFS: Lefties shut out in two-hitter

YAKIMA — The Port Angeles Lefties ran into a tough pitcher against the Pippins, losing 8-0 on a two-hitter by the Pippins Anthony Alvarado, pitching his first start of the year.

Alvarado pitched a rare complete game.

Brian Hill and Branden Williams picked up the hits Sunday for the Lefties, both singles. Hill got on base three times as he walked twice.

Spencer Johnson and Ben Tinnel pitched well for the Lefties. After Port Angeles got down 8-0 after three innings, they went the final innings, combining for only two hits. They walked five and strike out five.

The Lefties (6-15 second half, 16-21 overall) and Yakima Valley played Monday after press deadline. The Lefties have Tuesday off for a travel day, then play at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday at Gresham.

Wilder loses 8-4

VANCOUVER — Wilder Senior lost 8-4 against the Crimson Cannons as the Cannons got up 7-2 early and then hung on for the win.

Joel Wood went 2 for 3 with an RBI, while Matt Hendry was 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI. Luke Angevine hit a triple, scored a run and walked. Kole Milyard also had a hit and a run.

Milyard pitched the final 1.2 innings, giving up no earned runs and striking out two while walking one.
