BOYS TENNIS: Roughrider boys take one match from state champion North Kitsap

PA Roughriders

POULSBO — Port Angeles boys tennis traveled to Poulsbo to take on the defending Class 2A state champion Vikings from North Kitsap and the Vikings ended up with the hard-earned victory, 6-1.

The Riders lone win was a classic at No. 1 doubles as seniors Luke Flodstrom and Nathan Basden got their second win of the season in straight sets against the top team from North Kitsap, 6-4, 7-6.

“Luke and Nathan have been working really hard and have had some big wins this year. They are motivated and focused, and I’m really excited about the opportunities they have ahead of them in the post-season,” said coach Brian Gundersen. “Our guys came out a lot more aggressive this time around and we had some very close matches that didn’t go our way.”
