BOYS SWIMMING: Port Angeles splashes North Kitsap

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles boys got five first-place finishes and four state qualifying times in a home meet Thursday against North Kitsap.

The boys won 94-84. Milo Atwater won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.52 seconds, while Cameron Butler finished first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.97, Tristin Butler first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.78 seconds and the 400 freestyle relay team of Cameron Butler, Karsten Hertzog, Alex Hertzog and Tristin Butler with a time of 3:38.89.

Diver David Jensen also won the 1-meter competition with 165.30 points.

Tristin Butler posted his third individual state qualifying time in the 200 individual medley, finishing second with a time of 2:05.61.

Other district qualifying times were Atwater in the 50 freestyle, Jonas Kongerslev in the 50 freestyle (25.06 seconds, second) and Noah Sinnes in the 100 backstroke (1:09.26 fourth).

The Roughriders take a break from competition until Jan. 6, when they go up against Klahowya at Olympic High School.

Bremerton 104, Sequim 60

BREMERTON — Sequim got five first-place finishes in a dual meet against Bremerton.

Christian Goodrich won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:45.62, while Jax Thaxton got a first in the 100 freestyle and Liam Payne won the 100 breaststroke. Thornton was .9 seconds away from qualifying for District in the 100 freestyle and 1.3 seconds off of a District time in the 100 backstroke.

Goodrich also picked up a second place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:19.65, while Thaxton finished second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:13.15 and Payne finished second in the 200 IM in 2:45.62.

In relays, the Sequim 200 medley team of Thaxton, Payne, Goordich and Alex Berikoff won with a time of 2:07.24, qualifying for District in the process The Wolves’ 200 freestyle team of Berikoff, Thaxton, Payne and Goodrich won with a time of 1:53.08.

Sequim next swims Jan. 4 at Klahowya.
