BREMERTON — Port Angeles swimmers shaved time off their events and picked up awards at the divisional invitational meet at Olympic High School.
The meet serves as the final chance to qualify for postseason competition.
“All of the boys swam at least one event and some had two best swims of the season,” Roughriders head coach Pete Van Rossen said.
Carter Droz dropped his 100-yard breast stroke time by four seconds to finish with a time of one minute, 16.61 seconds.
Droz also received the Sportsmanship award.
“The boys 200 freestyle relay Taylor Martin, Alex Che, Josh Krzysiak and Josh Gavin went from a 1:40.67 to a 1:36.69 only .4 off the state qualifying time,” Van Rossen said.
“In the 100 free Alvaro Medravilla went from a 1:12 to a 1:05.
Kryzsiak placed third in the 50 free with his best time of the season in 24.18.
Van Rossen was voted Olympic League Coach of the Year in his first season as head coach of the team.
