BOYS’ SWIMMING: Port Angeles beats Olympic in opening meet

BREMERTON — The Friday Harbor swim boys opened their season with a 110-68 win over Olympic on the road, winning nine out of 12 events.

The Roughriders also outscored Olympic in eight out of the 12 events.

Tristin and Cameron Butler each posted individual state qualifying times.

Tristin placed first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.09, while Cameron qualified in the 500 freestyle with a second-place finish in 5:12.58. Tristin also won the 100 breaststroke.

The Roughriders also qualified two relay teams and nine individual events for the District championships.

District qualifying times included:

200 Medley Relay — Alex Hertzog, Tristin Butler, Cameron Butler, Jonas Kongerslev, first, 1:51.32

200 Freestyle — Cameron Butler, first, 1:59.20; Karsten Hertzog, second, 2:05.30

100 backstroke — Alex Hertzog, first, 1:05.61; Kongerslev, second, 1:06.07

100 breaststroke — Tristin Butler, first, 1:07.19

100 Freestyle — Milo Atwater, first, 56.23

400 Freestyle Relay — Atwater, Karsten Hertzog, Cameron Butler, Tristin Butler, first, 3:40.28.

200 Individual Medley — Atwater, second, 2:27.94

100 Butterfly — Alex Hertzog, third, 1:04.78

500 Freestyle — Karsten Hertzog, third, 5:32.97

Other first place finishes:

1 meter diving – Andrew Methner, first, 138.80 points

The next meet is on the road against Kingston at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
