BELFAIR — Despite a big game from Keenan Green and a wild fourth-quarter comeback, the Sequim boys basketball team were just nipped on the road by North Mason 64-61.
The Wolves were down big in the fourth quarter at 61-49, but rallied at the four-minute mark, nearly pulling off a miracle win. They went on a 7-1 run to cut it to 62-56, then a clutch 3-pointer by Solomon Sheppard at the 1:01 mark brought the Wolves to within one possession at 62-59.
Zeke Schmadeke stole a pass with 30 seconds left and Sheppard drove to the basket and was fouled, nearly making a circus shot as he was falling onto his back. He hit a pair of free throws with 22 seconds left to make the score 62-61.
Sequim nearly stole the inbounds pass, but North Mason was able to gather the ball and drew a foul, making one free throw. The Wolves had a crack for a potential game-winning 3-pointer with three seconds left, but a Mason Rapelje shot rimmed out.
Green hit six 3-pointers and scored 21 points for the Wolves. Sheppard added 16 and Charlie Grider 12. Rapelje scored eight.
The Wolves (3-8, 8-9) next host Kingston (2-9, 4-13) at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Crescent 37, Clallam Bay 27
CLALLAM BAY — The Crescent boys basketball team toughed out a 37-27 hard-fought road victory over Clallam Bay to improve its record to 16-2.
“[It was] easily the best defensive effort in my nine years at Crescent,” said Crescent coach Chris Ferrier. “We really focused on playing solid, steady fundamental defense and keeping their guys in front of us and making them shoot over a hand. It was a very normal Crescent vs Clallam Bay game, it sometimes resembled big time wrestling. it got a little spicy.”
Mikah Love led the Loggers with 13, hitting three 3-pointers in the third quarter. Lukas Love and Henry Bourm each scored nine.
Dylan Simmons led the Bruins with eight points, while Cyrus Politte and Coletyn Hull each scored seven.
“We kept edging away, but the Bruins kept hanging around and scrapping their way back in the game,” Ferrier said.
Crescent next plays at Neah Bay (11-3) at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday. Clallam Bay (10-5) plays at Chief Kitsap (0-6) on Tuesday.

NEAH BAY — The Neah Bay boys basketball team had five players with at least nine points and romped over Chief Kitsap 78-22.
Tyler Swan led the balanced attack with 15 points and eight rebounds. Makyah Chambers and Seactis Woodruff each scored 13, while Jodell Wimberly had 10 and Mathias Greene hit three 3-pointers for nine. Daniel Cummins had 10 rebounds to go with six points.
Neah Bay (11-3) next hosts Crescent at 7:15 Wednesday.
