SEQUIM — With its back to the wall, Sequim continued its hot stretch of play with a 66-37 loser-out bi-district boys basketball victory over the Lindbergh Eagles on Wednesday.
The 10th-seeded Wolves (11-10) ousted No. 15 seed Lindbergh (6-14) to claim their fifth consecutive victory — and advance to another loser-out contest tonight against No. 7 seed Clover Park (11-8). The Timberwolves fell 60-44 to No. 2 North Kitsap on Wednesday.
Against the Eagles, Cole Smithson scored eight of his 10 points in the second quarter as the Wolves broke open a tight game to open up a 32-20 halftime advantage.
Vince Carrizosa posted nine of his game-high 15 points in the third as Sequim went up by 23 after three quarters, 53-30.
Keenan Green added 11 points, including three 3-pointers, and Zach Thompson and Isaiah Moore each added eight points.
Sequim coach Craig Brooks said his team’s defense stood out all game long.
“Zach Thompson, Cole Smithson and Brett Mote [all stood out on defense],” Brooks said. “They all are great on-ball and off-ball defenders and showed it again tonight.”
