BOYS BASKETBALL: Sequim gives undefeated Bremerton all it can handle

East Jefferson, Crescent both win

SEQUIM — The Sequim boys basketball team gave a 5-0 Bremerton squad everything it could handle as the Knights held on tight for a 69-66 victory.

The game was close throughout. Bremerton was up 30-29 at the half and 49-45 after three quarters.

The Wolves got a big game from Keenan Green, who hit five 3-pointers for 17 points. Solomon Sheppard had 15 points and Mason Rapelje had his best game of the year with a pair of 3-pointers and 14 points. Sheppard, Lars Wiker and Garrett Little all hit 3-pointers.

The Wolves are playing some tough league teams early as they also lost to Bainbridge last week. On Friday, it doesn’t get any easier as Sequim (0-2, 3-2) takes on North Kitsap (2-0, 2-1), one of the best teams in the state, at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Rivals got off to a fast start and built up a lead of more than 20 points by halftime. Seattle Christian rallied in the second half, but East Jefferson was able to hang on.

“They made a bunch of threes late,” said coach Emmanuel Abbott.

“Tray Brown got his first start and played a great game. [He] was one of the reasons we built that early lead,” Abbott said.

Moore shot 11-for-13 from the floor and 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. He also had four steals. Brown shot 4-for-7 on his 3-pointers.

Six-foot-8 Stuart Dow had another great all-around game with 10 points, 10 rebounds and eight blocks. Keidan Guzman also pulled down 10 rebounds, while Cash Holmes had seven points and seven rebounds.

AMANDA PARK — The Crescent boys basketball team improved to 6-1 on the season, beating Lake Quinault on the road Tuesday 68-18.

The Loggers got up 47-7 at the half.

“We were able to create offense from our defense and got the game going where we wanted,” said coach Chris Ferrier. “Our freshmen came off the bench and won the fourth quarter against their starters and that was a real highlight. We had 25 assists as a team, really played unselfishly and shared the ball the entire game.”
