UNIVERSITY PLACE — Sequim dominated the fourth quarter to advance in the District 2/3 boys basketball tournament with a 73-52 win over Renton at Curtis High School.
The Wolves can lock down a spot at regionals with a win tonight over Olympic.
Sequim lost to the Trojans 56-48 in Olympic League play in December, but defeated them in the rematch 51-39 last month.
The Wolves led 47-42 going into Tuesday’s fourth quarter before outscoring Renton 26-10 in the final period.
“We came out and got an early bucket, and that’s always nice to get some separation,” Sequim coach Greg Glasser said.
“We scored, I think, first seven points to take a 12-point lead. That helped a lot. To be able to score an execute in the fourth quarter is huge . . . especially in the postseason.”
The Wolves also started on a roll, grabbing an 18-6 lead before the Indians came storming back with a barrage of 3-pointers.
Leading the way for Sequim was a three-man wolfpack of Jackson Oliver, Alex Barry and Vance Willis.
Oliver paced the Wolves with 20 points on 8 of 12 shooting. He also had four assists and three steals.
Barry scored 18 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, made five steals and blocked three shots.
Willis scored 17 points and dished out a team-high six assists.
Sequim also received six points from Alex Rutherford and five from Payton Glasser.
The Wolves (16-7) and Olympic (16-7) will face off tonight at 7:45 p.m., against at Curtis High School.
Glasser isn’t too worried about facing the Trojans for the third time this season.
“We’ve done it plenty of times,” he said. “And if it is [tough], it’s just as tough for them. So we don’t worry about that.”
The Trojans advanced to this evening’s loser-out, winner-to-regionals game by defeating Clover Park 61-59 Tuesday thanks to a 3-pointer by senior guard Marcus Harris with 7.6 seconds left in the game.

Cascade Christian 58, Chimacum 44
SUMNER — Halfway through the fourth quarter, the Cowboys were in great shape: tied with the Cougars 44-44.
Then things — everything — went south for Chimacum, as Cascade Christian closed the game on a 14-0 run to advance to the Class 1A West Central District championship game.
The Cowboys, meanwhile, face a loser-out showdown with Charles Wright Academy today, with the winner moving on to face the loser between Vashon and Cascade Christian on Saturday in a loser-out game that will determine the district’s second and final regional berth.
“We just went through a funk,” Cowboys coach Jim Eldridge said of Tuesday’s last few minutes.
“We were right there. It was pretty disappointing, really, because the kids played real hard.”
Brendan Naylor led Chimacum with 13 points and Orion Weller had 12.
John Carthum and Matt Koenig each hit two 3-pointers. Carthum finished with eight points and Koenig had six.
The Cowboys (7-13) will have their work cut out for them tonight against Charles Wright (10-12) at 6 p.m., again at Sumner High School.
The Tarriers took No. 3 Vashon (20-1) to overtime Tuesday before falling 56-50.
Eldridge watched the beginning of that game and came away impressed.
“Vashon’s pretty good and Charles Wright took them to overtime,” Eldridge said.
“When I was watching, Charles Wright looked better. But playing a team for third time [as Vashon and Charles Wright were] is tough — it didn’t work out too well for us.
“But Charles Wright was playing really well.”
